I love this man. It's almost impossible to name someone in the game of hockey who plays with so much heart and who works his ass off every single time his skate hits the ice.

Cabo was amazing. For the two weeks I spent in Mexico I completely forgot about what cold felt like. I spent hours upon hours lying by the pool or on a towel by the ocean, soaking in the sun and enjoying the serenity. The experience was made even better because I got to spend it with one of my absolute best friends. I had never traveled down South before so it was shocking to see what an incredibly different culture it was. On the first day I saw people living in cardboard box homes and traveling in the back of pickup trucks. The people in Mexico were very gracious and they allowed us to become incredibly comfortable. I'm a real homebody so by the end of the trip I was really missing Montreal. I'm excited to go back with 5 of my closest friends in a years time. It's far off but I've already started planning it in my mind.
Returning home to Montreal was perfectly fine with me for one reason, The All Star Game. Being a massive hockey this was the perfect opportunity for me to see some of my favorite players from other teams come together to forget about rivalries and just have a good time. The city was alive with fans from all across the country. On Saturday morning I woke up at 6am to line up for the NHL All Star Practice at the Bell Center which was general admission. After being rudely reminded about how cold it was outside we were let in at 7:30 and we sat down in the second row behind the goalies net. Our row was incredibly diverse. We were all sporting jerseys from different teams(I made sure to put my Nabokov one on) and we were up on the big screen on several occasions. I was ecstatic to see Marleau, Thornton, Parise & Lecavalier all under one roof. In my opinion it was worth it to spend 17$ to watch them practice for 4 hours. It was a lot better then spending 500 for two tickets to the game. We checked out the Jamboree after where I was asked by an Ottawa Sun photographer to pose near the Sharks jersey outside.

It was so much fun to see so many people in different jerseys. There was some friendly booing for Boston fans but it was all in good fun. A lot of people criticize the game but I think it's an amazing chance for everyone who loves hockey to come together and just enjoy themselves. No one was booing or trying to pick a fight with anyone. After that we headed down to Crescent to see the All Star concert. We almost froze our asses off, literally. It got to the point where I was walking funny because my feet were so cold. It was worth it in the end though. The New Cities put on one of the best shows I've seen to date. I'm not going to lie, I'm ridiculously proud of them and how far they've gotten. If anyone deserves success it's these guys. They have to be one of the nicest groups of people I've ever met and they know how to put on a hell of a show. This next year should be a lot of fun thanks to them. After their set we handed out some of their promo stickers and met some super interesting people. While I'm kind of sad to be away from the sun, I'm happy to be back in Montreal.
Cuz two 1/2's = 1 whole♥

4-> The New Cities MAPMUSIC Benefit Concert August 23rd. This show will go down in my mind FOREVER as one of my favorites for so many reasons. From the sketchy tattoo man in the alley, to the awkward encounters in the streets, to the incredible show, everything about it was perfect. It was a great chance to be introduced to a handful of up and coming bands while supporting an amazing cause. Not to mention it was the perfect way to end off the summer.
2->The New Cities September 28th&29th.Getting the opportunity to do a mini documentary on one of my favorite bands was special enough but getting the chance to attend back to back shows in two completely new venues was an experience all in itself. While the 29th included some of the most memorable moments, it also included one of the scariest. We found ourselves stranded in Ottawa after there was a big mix up at the cab company which led to our cab never showing up and our bus leaving. I'll never forget Melissa & I standing on the street realizing that we had no way to get back home and absolutely no place to stay. Thank god for the guys. Running on 4 hours of sleep never felt better.
1-> Jacks Mannequin November 14th. It's going to be almost impossible for any band or any artist to ever compare to Andrew McMahon in my mind. I had seen him live twice before this show but this one was different. We waited outside for 6 hours so that we could be front and center and we were. I got to spend 2 hours watching Andrew McMahon do what that man does best. It was almost an honor to get to witness his passion so close up. Not to mention the man is a genius and his voice turns me into a complete fan girl.
Apart from those top 5 I have so many experiences that will probably stay with me for years to come. Some were incredible...while some were highly embarrassing. I will admit that thanks to all these shows and the...people...we hung out with over the past year, I've become a lot more comfortable as a person. I've learned to let loose and have a good time and not worry so much about what people think of me. I will never ever forget a night at Foufs in early in July that allowed me to get to know a very interesting band that ended up making that entire week amazing.
I did a lot of growing up this year and I'm excited to see what I'll have to say in one years time. Hopefully it can only get better.
